Perth: Day 3

Welcome to Day 3 of my Perth vacation. As usual, I woke
up at 6 in the morning and headed down to the Perth
sightseeing centre and waited for the coach to arrive and
while I was waiting, my dad took this nice picture of me
with the Bank West and St George buildings behind me:

My mum posing with this nice church near the coach
pick up point:

As you can see, It was another beautiful day filled with
abundant sunshine and perfectly blue skies (there were
some clouds later on but the amazing thing was that you
could actually count the number of clouds in the sky.
There were usually like only 2 or 3 clouds in the sky!!!):

Fast Facts: The state of Western Australia has
2,529,875 km² of land but it only has 2,163,200 people
living in it while the State of Sarawak has 2,500,000 people
living in it but it only has 124,450 km² of land.

Fast Facts: Total distance traveled in Day 3 = 600kms

As you can see from the map I cropped from the catalog,
my first stop was Caversham Wildlife Park(Again!!!).
After that, the Pinnacles Desert was my second stop and
last stop for the day was Lancelin before heading back to
Perth:

Unfortunately, the Caversham Wildlife park was on the
itinerary so we had to visit it again but we didn't join the
guided tour in the park like the other day though but I
did get a picture with the full sign this time but my body
was blocking the kangaroo...sigh...:

I spotted this nice bird in the park which is a wild bird
by the way. the funny thing about birds there is that they
are not really afraid of you and they will just walk away
from you slowly if you chase them which is unlike the
birds in Kuching because they fly off as soon as you get
close to them:

These animals really do look like giant rats but they are
not. Check out how green the grass is:

So, after visiting the park again, we finally hit the great
Australian Outback. The outback looks a little like a desert
due to the lack of rain and the countless farms which
dominates this part of the outback:

Some cows and sheep grazing:

This part of the outback is also kind of like a grass land
but the grass is so short and it will never grow long. As
you can see, there are only a few trees on the outback:

This lorry was carrying 4 full size containers but i was
only able to get one container into the shot:

Throughout the entire 600kms on the outback, this is pretty
much all you get to see, just endless wide open farm land
with really short and brown grass:

There is a show on the Discovery channel about moving
houses and buildings on huge trucks. I wonder if they were
filming the Australian version of that show when I spotted
about 10 really huge trucks moving parts of a house/building:

There were trucks moving boats too:

Here are a couple of video clips of the vast open outback:
Nothing but vast open fields:

Before reaching the beach, we passed by a wind farm filled
fill lot's and lot's of wind turbines used for generating
electricity:

We spent more than 4 hours on the road before reaching
the beach you know? And all we got to see were vast open
farms like in the videos above it's a little like starring into
a whole bunch of nothingness but it was beautiful:

The landscape was far greener around the beach:

Finally, we arrived at the beach but I don't know the name
of this beach but I do know that it's the Indian Ocean out
there:

White sand:

Me:

Check out how blue the water of the Indian Ocean Is:

After lunch, we finally reached the main destination of
the day which is The Pinnacles Desert:

Oh, by the way, did I mention that it was damn hot in
the desert? I was like walking in the desert around
noon with the sun directly over me. Wow!!! it was so
hot that I got a headache and almost puked. According
to the thermometer, it was only 26C but the sun sure
has it's way. The funny thing was that the rocks were
actually cool if u touch them:

Lot's and lot's of finger like rocks:

As you may notice by now, the desert is dominated by
finger shaped rocks like the one I'm touching. According
to the aboriginals, they did not like the this particular
desert because they believe that you will be eaten by
the desert if you travel alone and those finger like rock
formations are the fingers of those who were swollen by
the desert trying to escape or dig themselves out of the
desert:

Nice finger shaped rocks:

More finger shaped rocks:

A whole bunch of finger shaped rocks behind me:

After visiting the pinnacles desert, we headed to Lancelin.
As you can see, Lancelin is like the Sahara desert as there
are tons of sand dunes and the entire area is covered with
sand ofcourse:

Gigantic sand dune behind me:

Sand boarding is a popular sport here and as you can see,
I've got me board right here but I did not take it for
a spin though. Why??? Because a Japanese gal
who was from the same tour group as me almost broke
her neck when she fell off her board. She fell head over
heels down the sand dune. After seeing that, there was
no way I'm gonna let a broken neck spoil my vacation.
So, I did not sand board :

The goal of sand boarding is to slide all the way down
from that tall sand dune on your board and make it down
in one piece:

I did not sand board but I did climb that gigantic sand
dune that everyone was sliding down from though and what
a surprise I've got!!! The view from up there was magnificent:

The sun set from up there was magnificent too:

looks like the Sahara desert doesn' it?:

Gigantic sand dunes behind me:

Picture of other people sand boarding:

Video clip of someone sand boarding:

The sun setting behind the sand dunes:

After climbing the sand dune, we went on this here 4wd
vehicle for our sand dune ride:

As you can see from this picture I cropped from my
catalog, The 4wd ride was all about driving up and down
gigantic sand dunes:

During the ride:

We stopped on top of a tall sand dune to admire the sun
as it sets over the Indian Ocean (This pic isn't very clear
because I took it from inside the 4wd):

As I made my way out of the 4wd, The sun went from
being like the picture above to like the picture below in
5 seconds!!! it just literally dropped below the horizon
before my very eyes like in a split second!!!:

More sand dunes:

Pic taken right before we descended a sand dune:

Video clip of the 4wd ride( as were descending a sand dune):

So, after the 4wd ride, we headed back to Perth and that
concludes day 3. Perth skyline at night. See you next time!!!
